Dr Rebecca Band is a Senior Research Fellow in the Social Networks, Health and Wellbeing Research Group, at the University of Southampton. Becky is a Chartered Psychologist with a particular interest in the role of interpersonal processes in health and illness.

I am currently leading an NIHR study called PALS (the project about loneliness and social isolation) with Prof Anne Rogers to understand how social networks might reduce social isolation and loneliness.

My PhD entitled “Significant others, patient outcomes and maintenance of symptoms in chronic fatigue syndrome” was completed in 2013, at the University of Manchester with Profs Alison Wearden and Christine Barrowclough.

I am a trained rater in Expressed Emotion (CFI and FMSS), and have experience in longitudinal and momentary (EMA) quantitative methods (including using SPSS, STATA and R).
