MSc Physiotherapy Selection day

What to expect

If your application is shortlisted you will be emailed an invitation to attend one of our selection days and you will be able to choose the date which is most convenient for you. The selection days will be held in the Health Sciences, Building 67 (Nightingale Building) on our Highfield campus. Please wait in the foyer to be collected by a member of staff. The day will commence with the Admissions team checking the documents that you have been asked to bring with you. Following this there will be a presentation giving more detailed information about the MSc Physiotherapy programme and then you will take part in a group exercise and an individual interview with a Physiotherapy tutor and local clinician. Your interview will focus on your academic background, in particular the methodology and results of your research, as well as your experience and interest in the profession. If you have any questions about student life or the university itself, current physiotherapy students will be available during the day and you will have the opportunity to undertake a campus tour with them. During the informal lunch break, academic staff will also be on hand to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.

Before the day

Please make sure that you read through the checklist of documents you must bring with you and organise a photograph of yourself (as per the checklist).

Dress code

There is no dress code for the event but as you are attending an interview we would expect you to dress accordingly.

Travel Arrangements

If you are travelling by car please park in the visitors pay and display car park which is situated on the main campus by Building 16. Or alternatively limited free parking is available at our Montefiore Halls, Wessex Lane, postcode SO18 2NU. Please make sure you park in the non-residential section as signposted. From here you will be able to take the Uni-link Bus to the Interchange on Highfield Campus (Uni-link Bus Map). The bus stop is directly outside the entrance gate to the Halls. Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver. A day rider ticket costs £3.70 and entitles you to unlimited travel on any of our Uni-link buses.

If you will be travelling by train, you may wish to use the Uni-Link bus service which runs from both Southampton Airport Parkway and Southampton Central Station. The bus timetables can be viewed at http://www.unilink.soton.ac.uk/timetables.html.

When will you hear our decision?

After all the selection days have taken place we will make independent decisions on each applicant, based on your written application and performance at the selection day. We will then notify you of the outcome of your application by e-mail.

Please note that all offers will be subject to satisfactory health and criminal record checks.

We look forward to meeting you on the selection day and wish you every success with your application.
