Southampton student nurse shortlisted for scholarship award

University of Southampton student Daniel Morris has been shortlisted for a prestigious nursing scholarship award offered by the UK’s leading charity for nurses
Daniel was selected for the Outstanding Student Nurse Award in the recently-launched Cavell Nurses' Trust Scholarship Awards, from dozens of hopefuls from around the UK who applied.
If he is selected he will receive up to £2,000 to fund expenses incurred on tailor-made work placements, enabling him to further his nursing.
Daniel comments: "I feel very honoured to have this opportunity. It has already made a huge impact on my confidence and self-belief, but if it goes further, both prizes would be so beneficial to my career and future development."
The Awards are designed to help nursing and midwifery students at the start of their careers. There are five categories: the Edith Cavell Leadership Award, Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, Outstanding Student Nurse Award, Community Award and Outstanding Student Midwife Award.
The finalists will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held in a prestigious London venue in April 2012.
