Dean of Health Sciences, Jessica Corner, was quoted in Monday's Times Higher commenting on the final report of The Willis Commission. The report revealed that the move to degree-level nursing registration had no detrimental effect on the quality of care provided by the nursing profession. Jessica commented that "To meet the changing needs of healthcare we need well-trained, high-calibre nurses who are supported and well prepared..."

Congratulations to Health Sciences' programme leads who have successfully been awarded Commonwealth 2013/2014 shared scholarship awards for three programmes:  the Centre for Innovation & Leadership in Health Sciences' MSc Clinical Leadership; and Health Sciences' MSc Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, and MSc Public Health.

Student nurses had the opportunity to hear about first-hand service user experiences at an incredibly successful event this week. The mental health focussed ‘Inspiring a Generation through Lived Experiences Conference' was organised by the Lived Experience Reference Group (LERG) and gave students the chance to meet with service users and take part in a series of workshops.
