Our project work at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infection (UTS) has won the Infection Control & Hygiene Category in the Patient Safety Awards 2013 announced on Tuesday.

Congratulations to project lead Jacqui Prieto and her Infection Prevention Team including Julie Brooks (Head of Infection Prevention Unit) and Vivienne O'Connor (Infection Prevention Nurse).

Lecturer in Physiotherapy Dr Ruth Turk is the third Health Sciences academic to have been awarded a Clinical Academic Internship. Starting in November, Ruth will be working with the Neurological Physiotherapists in Solent NHS Trust to develop her clinically-focussed post-doctoral research.

Professional lead for occupational therapy Jo Adams has been interviewed in this month's issue of OT News about supporting clinical colleagues in getting involved in clinical research.  Jo's interview can be found on page 35 of the publication.

Professor Paul Crawford, Director of Nottingham Health Humanities and co-founder of the Health Language Research Group at the University of Nottingham is delivering a lecture on ‘Health Humanities and Compassionate Design of Care'.  The event is open to all and takes place in the main lecture theatre of B67 on Tuesday 16th July at 4pm.
