Health Sciences’ graduates celebrate in the sun
Congratulations to Health Sciences students from across the Faculty who graduated on Friday. Hundreds of graduates and their friends and families attended the Summer Graduation ceremonies held at the Turner Sims.
Achievements included Pre-Registration Nursing & Midwifery, Learning Beyond Registration, MSc Physiotherapy, Health & Social Care and undergraduate Advanced Health Practitioner programmes. Doctorates were also presented at both including Faculty academics Chris McLean and Elsa Montgomery.
The local, national and international graduates were incredibly complimentary about the support they received from the Faculty and felt their careers would benefit significantly.
The ceremonies went very well and were enjoyed by who attended; including Faculty staff took great pleasure sharing in the excitement of the occasion.
Our graduates join the growing alumni community of tens of thousands of Southampton graduates across the world. We wish them all a hugely successful future.
Naomi Graham, a graduate in MSc Health and Rehabilitation, said: "It's been lovely to celebrate with my family and fellow graduates. Studying at Southampton has been a whole life experience for me and I will miss being here.
"I've just started a new job working as a paediatric occupational therapist at Northumbria Healthcare Trust. It's what I've always wanted to do and being able to study at one of the best universities in the country in this field has enabled me to secure the job of my dreams."
Paul McIntre, a graduate in MSc Physiotherapy, said: "Today represents a huge achievement throughout my years of education. It has enabled me the opportunity to establish myself as a private practitioner in the local area."
Fiona Edwards, a graduate of BSc Clinical Practice, said: "This is the pinnacle of many years of hard work and a real achievement for me. I wanted to do this by the time I was 50 and I've just turned 50!
"I came to Southampton because it's so highly regarded and because of its links with Basingstoke where I work. This has given me greater confidence and will provide more job security for the future. Today has been a fantastic experience."
