Professor Maria Stokes was quoted within a piece in The Times supplement (page 7) on Tuesday about her research work with Arthritis Research UK and Southampton Football Club in designing training to help protect players from developing arthritis.

A warm welcome to visiting professor, Mary Wilde, who is associate professor of nursing at the University of Rochester Medical Center in the United States.  Mary is visiting Mandy Fader and her team this week as part of an International Continence Society Research Fellowship.  

The two professors have been collaborating on urinary incontinence research projects over the last five years and have completed the first stage of a new project with recent publication of a systematic review of urinary drainage bag decontamination. They will be travelling to Barcelona later next week to attend the International Continence Society meeting.

Professor Alan Glasper was interviewed on the BBC Radio Solent Katie Martin on Monday about Health Sciences' 30th anniversary of nursing celebrations.  Alan's interview is on 44.48 minutes into the show.

The recent ‘care left undone' study co-authored by Professor Peter Griffiths was widely covered in the British media including the Independent, Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Nursing Times, ITV and Sky News amongst others.

Our group of staff and UG nursing students flew out to Ghana on Monday to undertake voluntary renovation of a rural medical dispensary with the charity AMECA.  We heard first hand from programme lead, Sue Faulds, that everyone had a successful first day and spent a good first night camping.  We will be posting updates about the group's experiences on our Facebook page throughout their trip.
