Research led by Associate Professor Dr Anne Kennedy showing that cartoons could be a beneficial way of educating patients and empowering them to cope better with their long term conditions, has been widely covered by the media this week including BBC South Today, BBC Radio Solent and the DailyMail.co.uk.

Faculty lead for Supporting Students, Incidents in Practice, Diane Gow, has contributed an article to The Conversation.  In her piece, Diane deliberates the implications of Jeremy Hunt's announcement that the government will consider extending the legal duty of health professionals to be open and honest with patients or their families when mistakes cause harm.

Congratulations to Dr Alan Borthwick who is to receive a Citation from the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists at the House of Lords on 19th September in recognition of his work on attaining independent prescribing for podiatrists and physiotherapists.

Further congratulations go to Dr Cathy Bowen who is also to receive the Meritorious Award of the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists at the House of Lords on 19th September, the same day as Dr Alan Borthwick, in recognition of her contribution to advancing podiatric research and development.
