A summary of the latest news and intelligence from around the Faculty.

Two of our academics, Doctor Greta Westwood and Professor Alison Richardson, were behind the development of the newly launched Clinical Academic Careers Pathway Capability Framework for the Association of UK University Hospitals (AUKUH) Clinical Academic Careers Group for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHPs) in England. Professor Peter Griffiths recently presented at a symposium organised by the Karolinska Institutet & Swedish Society of Health Professions & Associations of Nursing alongside Professor Linda Aiken (probably the world's most renowned nurse researcher) from the University of Pennsylvania.

The symposium, which took place at the Nobel Forum in Stockholm, covered the Professors' RN4CAST project which was recently reported in the Lancet.

Congratulations to the seven Health Sciences staff who were nominated for the 2014 SUSU Excellence in Teaching Awards. The award ceremony was held last week on the 8th May (picture above).  These awards recognise and reward members of academic staff who have made a real impact on the academic experience of students.

Also in the 2014 SUSU Excellence in Volunteering Awards, BN adult nursing student and volunteer, Sammi Gardiner, was awarded honorary lifetime membership to SUSU. Well done Sammi!

Finally...Professor Alan Glasper has written an article in the British Journal of Nursing examining the potential of new Department of Health NHS England policy ‘Transforming Primary Care' to provide safe and personalised care for the most vulnerable in society.
