On Monday this week Lesley Collier was interviewed by Rox Carere on BBC Radio Solent’s Louisa Hannan show talking about the University’s multi-disciplinary approach to dementia research. Lesley’s piece is 1 hour and 33 minutes into the show.

Congratulations to the six Healthcare Management, Policy and Research BSc students who raised over £350 for Cancer Research UK as part of a 24 hour challenge for their induction week. The students persuaded local retailers to donate stock, negotiated permission to run a stall on campus, collected money at a local gig and passed collection buckets around the campus.

Congratulations to Professor Catherine Pope who underwent an intensive training course to become a trainer for the Springboard Women’s Development Programme and successfully obtained her license. Cathy hopes to deliver more Springboard courses next year. The photo shows course participants with Jenny Daisley MBE, one of the developers of the Springboard Programme.

Earlier last month researchers from the National Institute for Health Research CLAHRC Wessex received a funding boost of more than £285,000 to aid their work in trying to improve the lives of people with dementia. Dr Jackie Bridges led the funding bid. You can read more about it here.
