Congratulations to James Wilson who led the zappers theatre project ‘Falling down the rabbit hole’ which was awarded Runner Up in the Best of Health Awards ‘Innovation of the year’ category. The awards ceremony took place last Friday.

Associate Professor Jackie Bridges is leading a study to improve the compassion and care experienced by older people on hospital wards. Jackie will be working on the study with Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The news has been covered in Medical Xpress .

Congratulations to MRes Clinical and Health Research student Kathryn Morton who won second prize for her abstract in the ‘The no pain for children 2014 young researchers’ award’ given by the No Pain for Children Association and organised in conjunction with the 2nd Congress on Paediatric Palliative Care. Kathryn’s abstract is entitled ‘Transferring Critically Ill Babies and Children Home to Die from Intensive Care Units’.

A research partnership between Health Sciences and the Isle of Wight Council’s public health team into social isolation and loneliness was selected from among 300 submissions on the subject for a presentation at Public Health England’s recent annual conference at Warwick University. The first sandpit meeting of the Medical Devices and Vulnerable Skin Network will take place at the Chilworth Manor Hotel on Wednesday 26th November 2014. This event is free and further information can be found here .

Finally…the Electronic Assessment of Professional Practice (eAoPP) Symposium also takes place on Wednesday 26th November. The purpose of the symposium is to introduce eAoPP through a series of presentations from actual users with the aim of it becoming a catalyst for discussion.
