A summary of the latest news and intelligence from around the Faculty.

Following the REF 2014 results last December, Health Sciences has since been ranked by Research Fortnight as number one in the UK for the overall quality of its research, and also by the Times Higher Education (THE) which has ranked our subject research intensity as number one in the UK!

Congratulations to Dr Jane March-McDonald, associate professor Tracy Long-Sutehall and Maggie Duckett, who have secured £20,000 from the WUN Research Development Fund.

Along with a team of collaborators, the trio will be seeking to initiate and develop a global network focused on generating effective evidence based policy and practice guidance that support unaccompanied child and adolescent asylum seekers.

Congratulations to the team led by Kevin Humphrys and Ellen Kitson Reynolds which has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in the award for Inspirational Education Provision by theNational Autistic Society. The team devised a learning resource for all students which Jenny Jepson subsequently developed as an e-learning package. The winner will be announced in March.

On Tuesday 27th January Health Sciences will be welcoming acclaimed actor and friend of the Faculty, Mark McGann for the day. The aim of Mark’s visit is to explore opportunities for projects where his world class experience as an actor and director can contribute meaningfully to the delivery of our learning and teaching experiences.
