Congratulations to Professor Claire Foster who raised over £730 completing the 2015 Moonwalk in London in aid of Walk the Walk. Claire was walking as part of Breast Cancer Campaign’s team along with 15,000 other participants in all manner of costumes powerwalking a marathon through the streets through the night. Claire would like to thank all those who generously sponsored her and encouraged her throughout with regular tweets and emails.
Congratulations to Sandy Walker who has been appointed to the International Board of the International Health Humanities Network which includes major contributors to the work of applying theory and practice in the arts and humanities to healthcare, health and well-being.

Dr Graham Petley, Lecturer in Healthcare Science, is an author on a study recently published in Resuscitation . The study assesses the feasibility of continuing chest compressions during delivery of defibrillation shocks. It is hoped that adoption of this procedure will improve patient outcome from defibrillation whilst maintaining rescuer safety.

Dr Carol Rivas is an author on a study published in Biomedical Central . Her study is based on improving the quality of participant interaction and ideation tools within service improvement activities within multiple sclerosis outpatient future groups:

Congratulations to Sophia Hulbert for successfully defending her PhD with minor modifications on Monday. The title of her achievement is ‘Dancing with Parkinson’s – An exploration of teaching and the impact on whole body coordination during turning.’ Sophia’s supervisors are Professor Ann Ashburn, De Lisa Roberts and Dr Geert Verheyden.

Congratulations to physiotherapy PhD student Seng Kwee Wee who has had his paper published in Physical Therapy – Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association, which is titled: ‘Effect of Trunk Support on Upper Extremity Function in People with Chronic Stroke and People Who Are Healthy’. The results in the paper are based on Seng Kwee’s phase one research in the UK. Dr Ann-Marie Hughes, Professor Jane Burridge and Dr Martin Warner were also co-authors.
