Health Sciences students attended summer graduation ceremonies today including mother and daughter, Lindsay and Isobel Voss, who graduated with a Doctorate in Clinical Practice and Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing respectively.

After the ceremony Lindsay said: “I’m a really proud Mum today and incredibly pleased that my daughter is following a career in such an important area of healthcare.

“I have spent my whole career in the challenging area of safeguarding children. My doctorate has helped me discover that you don’t know what you’re capable of until you try, and I’m delighted to be celebrating my success alongside my daughter.”

Isobel, who originally studied Law before deciding to move into nursing, added: “It has been really helpful having my mum as a sounding board when things got tough, but my tutors were equally supportive and extremely encouraging. They inspired me to aim high.

“This has been a challenging yet rewarding experience and it’s been great to have Mum beside me as a role model.”

The ceremonies took place at the Turner Sims. Achievements from across Health Sciences were awarded including BScs in Public Health Practice, Bachelor of Nursing, MScs in Advanced Clinical Practice, BScs in allied health professions and Doctorships.

The ceremonies went very well in the sunshine and were enjoyed by graduates and their families, and staff took great pleasure sharing in the excitement of the occasion.

Our graduates join the growing alumni community of tens of thousands of Southampton graduates across the world. We wish them all a hugely successful future.
