News of the Cancer Immunology Campaign receiving a £480,000 donation from The Wolfson Foundation has been covered by BBC News and the Daily Echo. The Wolfson Foundation awards grants to support a number of academic fields, including science and medicine. Its donation will be used to build laboratories in the new centre.

Results of this year’s National Student Survey (NSS) published yesterday (Wednesday 12 August) show an overall increase in satisfaction levels of students at the University. The NSS shows that satisfaction amongst Southampton’s students with the overall quality of their undergraduate courses rose from 86 per cent last year to 88 per cent this year. This places the University tenth out of the UK’s 24 Russell Group universities for overall satisfaction, up four places from 2014.

The 3rd Annual SCPHN Showcasing Event will take place on 10 September from 12:30–17:00, Building 67, Highfield Campus. This Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) afternoon will showcase the outstanding work of Southampton’s SCPHN students. For more information and to book, see here. The Safe Staffing: Research, Policy & Practice Symposium 2015 will take place on 29 October from 09:30–17:00, Garden Court, Highfield Campus. A mix of national and international speakers will present on the latest research evidence, policies, guidelines, and approaches used to ensure safe and effective nurse staffing levels in practice. The 2nd Annual Challenging questions and ethical obligations: the ethics of everyday practice conference will be running in central London on the 10th May 2016. More information will follow shortly, so please hold the date.
