This Focus Meeting is aimed at exchanging knowledge between scientists, clinicians and both R&D and marketing personnel in healthcare industry, with specific reference to the latest technologies associated with skin health and microclimate management.

Specific aims of the focus meeting are to provide:

  • An overview of the state-of-the-art in skin health and microclimate as evidenced in research laboratories internationally
  • Opportunities for scientists and industrialists to translate their research into commercialization of inventions and technologies
  • Directions for R&D, such that they meet the needs of healthcare and medical specialists and bridge translational gaps
  • A convivial atmosphere and ambience with sufficient time for informal discussions, and encourage follow-up contacts between scientists, healthcare and medical personnel, and industrialists.

 Topics to be covered:

  • Basic mechanisms associated with skin breakdown and repair
  • Devices and barrier products for moisture at the skin interface
  • Measurement of skin physiochemical & biomechanical properties
  • Modelling of skin and subcutaneous tissues
  • Support surfaces to control the microclimate
  • Early detection systems and biomarkers of skin integrity
