This Focus Meeting is aimed at exchanging knowledge between scientists, clinicians and both R&D and marketing personnel in healthcare industry, with specific reference to the latest technologies associated with skin health and microclimate management.
Specific aims of the focus meeting are to provide:
- An overview of the state-of-the-art in skin health and microclimate as evidenced in research laboratories internationally
- Opportunities for scientists and industrialists to translate their research into commercialization of inventions and technologies
- Directions for R&D, such that they meet the needs of healthcare and medical specialists and bridge translational gaps
- A convivial atmosphere and ambience with sufficient time for informal discussions, and encourage follow-up contacts between scientists, healthcare and medical personnel, and industrialists.
Topics to be covered:
- Basic mechanisms associated with skin breakdown and repair
- Devices and barrier products for moisture at the skin interface
- Measurement of skin physiochemical & biomechanical properties
- Modelling of skin and subcutaneous tissues
- Support surfaces to control the microclimate
