The Health Humanities Special Interest group is pleased to announce a visiting lecture on the 13th of May from Professor David Pilgrim entitled: 'Critical and conservative aspects of arts and mental health research'

David Pilgrim PhD is Professor of Health and Social Policy in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Liverpool. His publications include A Sociology of Mental Health and Illness (Open University Press, 2005- winner of the 2006 BMA Medical Book of the Year Award), Mental Health Policy in Britain (Palgrave, 2002) and Mental Health and Inequality (Palgrave, 2003) (all with Anne Rogers). Last year in a departure from his usual interest he published Elvis Costello and Thatcherism (Ashgate, with Richard Ormrod).  He is currently writing a book on critical realism and mental health, to be published by Routledge in 2014, and co-editing a commissioned history of British clinical psychology for the British Psychological Society to appear in 2016.
