Event details
In 2012, the University of Southampton developed an ‘Electronic Assessment of Professional Practice’ (eAoPP). The portfolio has been successfully piloted in practice with over a thousand students and mentors. Consequently the University is committed to using eAoPP to all programmes within the Faculty. There are clear indications are that it has the potential to transform the way that professional skills are assessed not only in training but also as a tool for recording life-long learning, and continuing professional development.
The eAoPP enables students in the Faculty of Health Sciences to instantly record practice experiences, along with the practice based formative and summative assessments undertaken throughout their training. It allows those with ‘permissions’ to do so, to interact with the evidence so that what is a created is a comprehensive and reliable account of a student journey on a defined ‘pathway’. Critically, it is easy to use and is accessible from PCs, tablets, iPads and mobile devices, irrespective of operating system.
The purpose of the symposium is to introduce eAoPP through a series of presentations from actual users. Our hope is that this will act as a catalyst for discussion as to how electronic systems and devices can be used to support a range of learning and development activities within health care and other settings.
The symposium will encourage all attendees to actively contribute to discussion of their experiences in using technology to support work based learning activities. If you have an ideas that you are willing to share please let us know as soon as possible. Participants who wish to attend just to find out more about what’s happening and learn more about the eAoPP in the first instance are most welcome.
There is a nominal charge of £15 per head to cover expenses and catering costs, which will be waived for those making presentations.
