Implementation of new academic units

We have now completed the selection process for the appointment to the academic cluster lead roles. We are delighted to announce that the following appointments have been made:

Academic Cluster Leads

Professional Practice in Health Sciences

BBH Bio-behavioural Health - Stephanie Meakin FCPH Family , Child and Psychosocial Health - Liz Cluett PRH Physical and Rehabilitation Health - Jo Watson

Centre for Innovation and Leadership

ACEP Advanced Clinical and Expert Practice - Anne Baileff RD Researcher Development - Debbie Craddock LHS Leadership and Health Systems - Jan Davis

These roles commence on 1st September and so we will now be working with the cluster leads, research group leads, programme leads and cluster members to more clearly define the focus of each cluster and to clarify roles and relationships in order to focus our efforts on the strategic goals of the faculty. We will also be further defining cross-cutting theme roles to ensure we are addressing all strategic and operational requirements once the new structure becomes fully functional. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Academic Group Leads for their help and support in maintaining operations during this period of transition.

Staff update on Implementation of New Academic Units

Following the announcement of the new unit configuration and locations we have been undertaking further detailed planning regarding staff moves. We have held a series of open meetings, used staff away-days, and other drop in sessions in order to obtain feedback on our proposals and to hear any personal requests regarding co-location.

As a consequence of these discussions we have

Consequently we are now at a stage where we can inform individuals of their proposed desk space within B45 and B67.

We will shortly be writing to each individual member of staff informing them of their new location and giving one further opportunity to raise any final issues with Steve, Kathy and/or cluster leads. We will be employing an outside contractor, Harrow Green being the most likely option. Once agreement of the proposed moves and contract with Harrow Green have been agreed, a detailed timetable of moves will be established and negotiated with individual staff.

The co-ordination of the moves by Harrow Green will be overseen by Claire Atkins, involving other Administrative/Support staff in the more detailed arrangements, supported by Steve and Kathy and cluster leads. We have also alerted iSolutions to the proposed moves so that they can orchestrate IT and telephone arrangements.

Staff will need to limit their personal effects to five large crates and one filing cabinet, with encouragement to move to outside storage any non-essential items. It is proposed that all moves will be agreed, planned and implemented between August and September according to staff availability. We anticipate needing to use some areas as ‘holding bays' in order to allow for periods of staff absence.
