World renowned Social Scientist joins the Faculty

Ann Bowling has been appointed a Professor of Health Sciences and will work across the cancer, palliative and end of life care and organisational and delivery of care research groups. She has held Chairs at University College London and St Georges, University of London.

Ann will be well known for her two serial text books, ‘Measuring Disease’, a review of disease specific quality of life measures and ‘Measuring Health’; a review of quality of life measurement scales and ‘Research methods of Health published by Open University Press.

She started her career working with Ann Cartwright as a study care in the last year of life as reported by elderly widows. Her recent work has been developing measures of quality of life among older people, patient expectations and treatment preferences. She is an expert multi-method researcher with specialist expertise in the development and testing of research measurement tools and the design and analysis of large, complex longitudinal datasets. Ann will join the Faculty on January 2nd.
