Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine Postgraduate and CPD review underway

On 8th December we had the pleasure of hosting a very successful stakeholder event at Chilworth Manor Hotel. In excess of seventy delegates attended representing local and national health and social care organsations from the statutory, private and independent sectors, including former students.  The morning of the event largely consisted of facilitated table top discussions around 7 key topics, namely Advancing Clinical Practice, Leadership & Management, Growing Clinical Research, Public Health, Primary & Community Health Care, Strengthening the Workforce and New Innovations. The afternoon focused on new modes of delivery with particular emphasis on technology enhanced learning.

The aim of the review is to build a world-leading learning environment that produces clinicians, leaders and researchers that have advanced knowledge and capability, who continually seek to transform healthcare and significantly improve health outcomes for the population they serve. We received a wealth of very helpful feedback which will be used to inform new developments and initiatives. Although the three main pillars of our provision; advanced practice, researcher development and leadership and management, will remain as we have a very good reputation in many areas, we will be looking to provide increased inter-disciplinarity, greater flexibility in terms of modes of delivery, increased choice and internationalisation of the curriculum. Our intention is to increase our market share across national and international markets.

The consultation process will continue into 2012, through events involving service users, international stakeholders and alumni, with final programme validation scheduled for the spring of 2013. Should you wish to find out more please contact either Steve Tee , Anne Baileff or Tracey Barnes .
