On the grapevine

The University is undertaking a formal staff survey providing an opportunity for you to tell us your opinions about the University of Southampton as your workplace.

The survey is based on a standardised, anonymous and confidential questionnaire that will be administered and independently analysed by ORC International on behalf of the University. Please complete this survey before 11 December - the more staff who complete the survey, the better the picture of your views we will receive.

The Physical and Rehabilitation Health Directorate has developed a forum for sharing good news as an aspect of wellbeing at work. Jo Watson led on organising the fitting of the first ' Celebrations' board on Level 3 of Building 67.

The textbook, How to Write Your Nursing Dissertation, developed by Professor Alan Glasper and a range of colleagues from the Faculty has now been published.

The successful Wellbeing at Work Programme Coffee Voucher Scheme is back by popular demand and will run until 19th December 2012.

The Wessex HIEC Partnership has launched its brand new website - Wessex Innovation Resources (WIRES) www.wessexhiecpartnership.org.uk.

The new Health and Pharma website to support the new USIT (University Sector Industry Team) has launched. Health Sciences Research is featured here.

Health Sciences is hoping to be awarded an Athena SWAN Silver award this month.  Assessment is currently taking place. The award recognises an organisations commitment to advancing women's careers in STEMM academia.

Lesley in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Lesley Collier recently returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia where she was invited by the Royal Family to tour establishments around the country, presenting her research and advising on working with children with autism.

Lesley visited the Mother of Faisal Autism Centre, Prince Nassar Bin Abdulaziz Autism Centre, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and Disabled Children's Association in Riyadh; the  Ajman Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled in Dubai; and the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital and Zayed Higher Organisation for Human Care and Special Needs in Abu Dhabi.
