Recruitment to PGT/PGR programmes | an update from Steve Tee

The Faculty provides an attractive portfolio of PGT and PGR programmes and undergraduate CPD for health and social care practitioners, leaders and researchers. We operate in a complex commissioning environment in which many of our programmes are commissioned in response to specific NHS workforce requirements and therefore must meet prescribed professional and regulatory standards. However the context in which we work is shifting and the former certainties are changing. In response we have taken significant steps to anticipate and navigate through this difficult time. This includes:

1. Strategic engagement with key employers (NHS Trusts and Social Care providers) to develop partnership approaches

2. Engagement and influencing at political level both locally (LETBs) and nationally (advisory groups)

3. Diversifying our provision - new programmes, more choice, more flexible entry points, working with organisations differently, cross-faculty working

4. Bidding for new opportunities

5. Marketing ourselves more effectively

6. Exploring new international markets

This year overall we have been successful in recruiting more PGT/PGR students to the point of enrolment than in previous years despite a difficult financial climate. Thanks must go to the Directors of programmes, programme leads and the admissions team.
