Joint postgraduate review being undertaken

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) and Faculty of Medicine (FOM) are to undertake a review of postgraduate taught and undergraduate CPD provision during the 2011–12 and 2012-13 academic years.

The review takes place against a backdrop of significant fiscal challenges, both within the HEI sector and among our key stakeholders. It is therefore essential that the review is comprehensive, market sensitive and that the end product places the Faculties in the best possible position in a highly competitive environment. Following a series of meetings and a half day workshop in August the two Faculties have decided to work together collaboratively on this aspect of provision in order to maximise our competitive advantage.

We plan to conduct the review in collaboration with Faculty staff, other University of Southampton Faculty, critical friends, international experts, senior/local Trust representatives, professional bodies, patient and carer representatives, current students and Faculty alumni. This will ensure that the review is robust, comprehensive and considers the views and needs of all key stakeholders. We anticipate that the review will result in a number of innovative new awards to complement our existing portfolio. Our aim is to attract more national and international students and to enhance our growing reputation in advanced and expert practice, leadership and research. The formal structures and process of the review is illustrated below but if you have ideas for new markets, delivery methods or programmes and would like to participate please contact Anne Baileff or Steve Tee.
