Podiatry

The selection (or admissions) days in podiatry are held for you to give you the opportunity to learn more about the University, the podiatry programme and meet current students already studying on the podiatry course. Every shortlisted student will be invited to attend and the day will conclude with individual interviews for applicants with course tutors. This will provide us with the information we need in order to help us to decide whether we will make you an offer of a place on the podiatry programme.

We appreciate that you may feel anxious about attending the selection day; we do however see it as an important stage in your application, not only to help us to make our decisions but also as an opportunity for you to find out the information you need to be able to make informed decisions about your future career. During the day there will be plenty of opportunity to talk to and ask questions to academic staff and current students to find out all you want to know about us, our programmes and student life. Do feel comfortable to ask any questions about the programme, campus, accommodation, or finances and we will ensure that we answer all questions, fully and honestly.

What to expect

You will be given a location and a time to attend the selection day and normally this will commence with the Admissions team checking your documents that you have been asked to bring along with you. After this, there will be a presentation by members of the podiatry team which will give more detailed information about the University and the podiatry programme. Staff will also be able to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. If your questions are more about student life current podiatry students will be on hand during the whole afternoon to answer any questions that you have. Following this you will then have an individual interview with the podiatry tutors – this is your chance to ask any specific questions about your course and demonstrate your insight into the profession.

Before the day

To prepare for the session you must also read the document below ( please click on the following hyperlink)

The NHS Constitution

Please make sure that you read through the checklist of documents you must bring with you and organise a photograph of yourself (as per the checklist). In addition, you may wish to think about the sorts of questions you may get asked at the interview including what your motivations for pursuing a career in podiatry are.

Dress Code

There is no dress code for the event but as you are attending for an interview for entry into a new career and profession we would expect you to dress accordingly.

Friends and Relatives

We cannot invite friends and relatives into your individual interview but otherwise they are more than welcome to join you for the presentation and tour of the campus.

Parking

Limited free parking is available at our Montefiore Halls, Wessex Lane, postcode SO18 2NU. Please make sure you park in the non-residential section as signposted. From here you will be able to take the Uni-link Bus to the Interchange on Highfield Campus (Uni-link Bus Map). The bus stop is directly outside the entrance gate to the Halls. Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver. A day rider ticket costs £3.70 and entitles you to unlimited travel on any of our Uni-link buses.

When will you hear our decision?

We evaluate all the evidence you provide and make independent decisions on each applicant. We aim to make all decisions within 10 working days of your selection day. You will see this decision immediately in UCAS Track and you will also receive written confirmation from us by e-mail.

We look forward to meeting you on the selection day and wish you every success with your application.
