Hi, I'm Abdullah Sani Kamis and I studied Mphil/PhD in Health Sciences within Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Choosing to study here has not only given me the opportunity to work with renowned researchers from the University but also collaborate with other advisors from Oxford.

It was the excellent research profile and academic reputation that attracted me to the University of Southampton. Without even considering other choices, I knew this was the right place!

As a qualified podiatrist from Brunei I am passionate about improving my clinical knowledge in order to improve patient care outcomes.

Prior to coming to Southampton I carried out a Master's degree project on identifying the prevalence and impact of foot pain in people with rheumatoid arthritis in Brunei Darussalam. From this study, I realised that more evidence was needed to support a dedicated foot health service for people with this condition in Brunei.

For my PhD I am working towards generating guidelines on managing the foot health needs of people with rheumatoid arthritis that is both culturally sensitive and suitable for my home country.

The findings from my research will not only hopefully benefit Brunei but also have an impact on the global health care system.

Besides my excellent dedicated supervisors, I have also benefited from greatly expanding my research network which has grown tremendously in a very short span of time.
