Research project: An international field study for the reliability and validity of the EORTC cancer cachexia module (the EORTC QLQ-CAX24) and the EORTC QLQ-C30 for assessing quality of life in cancer patients with cachexia

Currently Active:

Cachexia is a multidimensional syndrome characterised by involuntary weight loss and physiological changes. The experiences and concerns of patients with cancer cachexia have been addressed in a number of qualitative studies. These studies highlight how the complexity of cachexia translates into a range of problems and experiences for the patient and the resulting burden of support for family and health professionals

The primary study objective is to test the scale structure, reliability, responsiveness to change and validity of the EORTC QLQ-CAX24 in conjunction with the EORTC QLQ-C30 in people diagnosed with cancer cachexia with different primary cancer diagnoses, at different stages of disease, and with different amount of secondary nutrition impact symptoms.
