Research project: Development of a module to supplement the EORTC Core instruments for assessment of Health Related Quality of Life in patients with Cancer Cachexia - Dormant

Currently Active:

Cachexia is a multidimensional syndrome characterised by involuntary weight loss and physiological changes. The experiences and concerns of patients with cancer cachexia have been addressed in a number of qualitative studies. These studies highlight how the complexity of cachexia translates into a range of problems and experiences for the patient and the resulting burden of support for family and health professionals.

The aims of the study are:

1) to develop a module to supplement the EORTC QLQ core module, for the assessment of QoL in patients with cancer cachexia

2) to explore the possible need for parallel development of separate modules for cachexia syndrome, refractory cachexia and secondary cachexia
