Dr Anne Margaret Fenech's photo

Anne's background is in management and occupational therapy. She qualified initially as an occupational therapist and later gained an MSc in Gerontology from the University of London and an MBA from Reading University.

Since 1991 she has worked mainly in lifelong learning policy development and management across health and social care, and research.


One of the best things about academia is that you continually encounter new points of view and evidence, which encourages you to examine your own ideas continually.

Leisure in neuropalliative conditions especially the factors which influence engagement and meaning

Research Projects

Being fully human through engaging in leisure: a mixed methods study of the factors which influence meaning and engagement in casual leisure occupations

This includes a study of:

  • the applicability of established signs of sensory overload to patients with neuropalliative conditions
  • the priority placed on the facets which make leisure occupations meaningful by staff
  • the levels of Engagement in casual leisure occupations
    the meaning of leisure engagement to individuals with neuropalliative conditions
