Dr Emma J Boger is Senior Research Fellow within Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I am interested in self-management and long-term health conditions. In particular, how interventions for self-management are evaluated and incorporate patient reported outcome measures. Currently I am working on a project funded by The Health Foundation, which seeks to identify the outcomes considered important by different stakeholder groups (patients, families, health professionals and commissioners of services).

I qualified as a RGN in 1999 and practised in a range of clinical environments until 2010 when I commenced my PhD studies at the University of Southampton. My main area of clinical expertise concerns the management of long-term health conditions.

My PhD involved the development and testing of a new patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for self-management following stroke- the Southampton Stroke Self-Management Questionnaire (SSSMQ).
