Exchange opportunities

Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Nursing students have the opportunity to apply for 3 month ERASMUS exchange placements.

A year out at university
Gain experience abroad

Erasmus is a programme within the European Union's Liifelong Learning Programme, formerly known as Socrates, which relates to higher education.  It aims to promote mobility within the EU and to enhance the European dimension of Higher Education within Europe through co-operation between Higher Education institutions.  Language preparation can be arranged prior to departure, or during the placement abroad.

ERASMUS placements are with Universities in Europe with whom we have formal links and encourage students to visit and experience the culture, studies and life of the profession in another country. Successful ERASMUS students receive a stipend to help off-set the additional costs of maintaining accommodation in the UK while studying abroad.

Erasmus placements provide students with key employability skills in cultural adaptation, analysing new ways of working based on experiences abroad and critically reflecting on the strengths and weaknesses of UK based health systems.

Health Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Nursing students have the opportunity to apply for 3 month ERASMUS exchange placements with our partner universities. University students from the UK or Europe who are undertaking clinical placements must satisfy the host country that they have met the required occupational health, vaccination and good character requirements.

Students who have completed an Erasmus experience have enjoyed the challenge and stimulation of their visits, finding that subsequent employers are impressed by their placements and skills.

Please note; The school does not provide ERASMUS clinical work placements for qualified practitioners who desire experience in the NHS. These placements must be negotiated directly with the NHS employers.
