Postgraduate research student

Emily Burden is a PhD student in Web Science at the University of Southampton, and a Research Assistant at The Alan Turing Institute on the Hate Speech: Measures and Counter-Measures project.
Prior to this, I obtained a BA in History and MSc in Web Science at the University of Southampton, and an MA in Terrorism, Security & Society at King’s College London.
My research examines far-right extremist mobilisation through a socio-technical perspective.
I am supervised by a multidisciplinary team from History (Chris Fuller), Criminology (Anita Lavorgna) and Computer Science (Mark Weal), and my research is funded by EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
