I have been offered a Research Internship by Dr Alain Zemkoho during my second year summer. It is a wonderful experience when I can work among my lecturers and dig deeper in my field.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Southampton?

I was advised to study at the University of Southampton by Dr Tri Dung as the University is one of the best research groups in my field of study. The weather is definitely a plus point as Southampton is the warmest city in the UK and I love the sunshine.

What were your first impressions of the University of Southampton?

The people are very friendly and helpful. It was easy to make friends as in Southampton, we have a dynamic culture and everyone respect what you are doing.

What do you enjoy the most about living in Southampton?

In Southampton, we have many green spaces like Common park or Riverside park. After a long day, we can join with your friend to play a tennis match there or just walk around and breath the fresh air. It will fulfil your energy and keep you awake for the next challenge.

What is your favourite spot on campus?

Definitely the library. If you are lazy and can not focus at home then the library is a perfect place for you. If you don’t want to buy a book that your lecturer recommend you to read, then go to the library to read it for free. You can even sleep in the library as long as the security guy does not notice 😊

Did you receive a scholarship for your studies?

I have received a 30% tuition fee reduction by the University. Without it, I will not be able to study in this leading University.

What has been your proudest accomplishment while you were in Southampton?

I have received the Dean List award in 2 consecutive years and in this year I have received a prize for the Best second year student in my faculty.

Would you recommend the University of Southampton to students from your home country?

I will recommend the University of Southampton to friends as I want them to experience the excellent education that I am having right now.

Do you have any stories about your time in Southampton or a happy memory you want to share?

In University of Southampton, if you are trying your best, you will receive recognition from other people. As my good results in my first year study, I have been offered a Research Internship  by Dr Alain Zemkoho during my second year summer. It is a wonderful experience when I can work among my lecturers and dig deeper in my field. I also have an office on the highest floor of the Math building where I can look through all corners of the University. It is a stunning view that you should not miss when you get here.
