Childcare vouchers

Childcare voucher schemes closed to new applicants and re-joiners on 4 October 2018 due to the Government's introduction of Tax-Free Childcare.

The childcare vouchers scheme will continue for existing members, unless you cancel your childcare vouchers or leave the University.  Unfortunately it is not possible to re-start childcare vouchers if you are joining the University as a new member of staff after October 2018.

The information on this web page is for existing members of the University's childcare vouchers scheme.

If you have any queries please contact Geraldine Witt in the Reward and Recognition Team

Update 20 March 2020

Following Government advice to close schools and nurseries from 20 March 2020, except for those whose parents are identified as key workers, current childcare voucher scheme members may have some questions about childcare vouchers during this time.

You can continue to accumulate childcare vouchers if you wish, and these will have no expiry date.

If you need to change the amount that you’re paying to your nursery or childminder, you will need to arrange this yourself direct with them.

If you have too many childcare vouchers in your online account: It is possible to request a part refund, or a full refund of unused/unwanted childcare vouchers (if you will be unable to redeem the vouchers for registered childcare before 1 September following 15th birthday or 1 September following 16th birthday for children who are registered disabled).  If you would like a refund, please complete and return a refund form to Geraldine Witt via email  Please note: Refunded childcare vouchers are subject to tax and NI deductions and are paid into your next available salary (once we have received the refund from Computershare).
