Step 6 - Pre-employment checks

Having selected a potential new employee, an offer of employment is conditional until a number of satisfactory checks have been completed.

Some checks are advisable to mitigate risk to either the individual or the University, like checking qualifications and references. Others are a legal requirement that must be fulfilled before the job applicant is hired.

The guidance below provides an overview of what good practice recommends, our legal obligations and University processes.
