When you get your staff number, you can apply for your staff ID card and subscribe to get your University computing account, which will give access to the University's IT systems and a staff email account.
Once you have subscribed you will have access to the University intranet portal SUSSED, where you will be able to access the HR website, the employee induction portal and view all policies and procedures relating to your appointment.
ID Card
To order your first Staff ID Card, you will need to log in using your university login details, and upload a suitable digital passport-style photograph.

SUSSED
SUSSED (Southampton University Staff/Student Social & Educational Directory) is the University's intranet portal. The portal provides a personalised view of the web resources that are available to you as a member of the University.
Once you have registered for your University computing account you will be able to access the full range of features, from the latest campus news, upcoming events and internal job advertisements through to sites dedicated to each service and academic area around the University.
SUSSED is also the portal through which you can access the employee induction portal, key administrative systems including Business World (finance), MyView (holiday and absence bookings, pay slips) and Blackboard (our virtual learning environment).

IT Information
As a new employee it can be challenging getting to grips with new IT systems. Here at the University we have a dedicated department, iSolutions, who will support you with any queries or issues you may have. For useful information regarding our IT support service please view their I'm New webpages.
We have a free Wi-Fi service, Eduroam, which is available across all of our campuses and in Halls of Residence. It's free to join and easy to connect to using your University log in details. Getting to Work
The University is committed to encouraging staff, students and visitors to adopt more sustainable travel habits and to reduce its environmental impact. Staff who live a minimum distance from the University can apply for a car parking permit for our Highfield, Winchester School of Art, Boldrewood and Avenue campuses. However, demand is high and the number of car parking spaces available is limited. Car parking permits are currently free of charge but there are plans to reintroduce parking charges. Permits are not required for motor cycles or scooters and we actively encourage lift-sharing where parking permits attract a significant discount.
Once you have your university log in details you can apply for a parking permit.
Buses
It’s also really easy to catch a bus, saving fuel, parking charges and helping the environment. The Highfield Transport Interchange is a major transport hub for the city of Southampton. From here, you can catch the University's own Uni-Link buses for travel to other campuses and to other destinations across the city, including train stations and Southampton International Airport. The interchange offers real-time travel information, a well-lit, covered waiting area, and a refreshment kiosk. It is used by students, staff, and the local community.
