The HRU offers courses in both GMA and paraffin immunohistochemistry for internal and external attendees.

GMA course

This is a one week practical course with supporting lectures that focuses on the use of GMA resin embedded samples for immunohistochemistry.

During the course participants will gain practical experience in tissue processing and embedding into glycol methacrylate resin, section preparation, immunohistochemical staining, and interpretation and analysis of stained sections. There will also be seminars of current research being conducted in the Unit, and lectures on other analysis techniques including FACS, in situ hybridisation, PCR, electron and confocal microscopy.

No dates have been set for 2015/16. Please contact us to discuss courses.

Paraffin course

This is a two day paraffin immunohistochemistry practical course with supporting lectures, detailing the use of immunohistochemistry in research concentrating on the use of paraffin embedded tissues. Participants will gain practical experience in section preparation, immunohistochemistry and interpretation and analysis of stained sections. Lecture topics include tissue processing & embedding, section preparation, immunohistochemistry, antigen retrieval, quality control, visualisation & enhancement of staining, double staining, interpretation & analysis of results.
