Ms Claudia Winspear

Ms Claudia Winspear is a Lecturer in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.

Claudia is a Brazilian Portuguese native speaker, who has lived and worked in the UK for many years. She is a graduate of Southampton, having successfully completed a BA in Iberian and Latin American Studies in 1996. She also holds a prestigious Institute of Linguists DipTrans qualification in Translation and Interpreting, and is a nationally-registered public service interpreter for the Portuguese-speaking communities of the South and Southwest of England.

She is currently co-convenor (with Vicky Wright of the UK Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies ) of an innovative training course entitled Introduction to Medical Interpreting and aimed at Southampton General Hospital members of staff. Responsible for its design and implementation, Claudia is the lead instructor.
