Mr Hembo Pagi is a Technician/Research Assistant in Archaeology at the University of Southampton.

I came to Southampton in 2006 for my MSc degree and been keeping coming back ever since. I have worked for more than a decade in ICT, providing solutions for different commercial IT and archaeological projects. Recently I have been focusing on imaging techniques and working here at the university as a research assistant and technician.

Research interests

My main interest lies in imaging technologies for cultural heritage. Usability and accessibility in academic outputs is a topic especially close to my heart.  Current projects include prospection of imaging-related data management at the university, helping to develop the digital communication infrastructure for university strategic research groups. In addition to that, I have been working on web applications to present archaeological data. I recently received a grant to develop a website for archaeological sites in Estonia.

Research project(s)

DataPool is creating services, systems and support for collecting and managing research data across the large multidisciplinary institution.

The Portus Project is guided by two main objectives.  Firstly, it seeks to build a better understanding of Portus itself, as well as its relationship to Ostia, Rome, and the rest of the Mediterranean.  Secondly, it aims to develop techniques that will enhance the ways in which highly complex classical sites can be investigated and recorded, and evaluate the impact of those techniques.
