From his wide-ranging teaching experience, James has developed a particular interest in curriculum design and assessment practices. James is an experienced language assessor for the aviation industry and has advised on the design of training programmes and language proficiency assessment design in aviation contexts. He is also a practising translator working across a variety of fields and provides training and advice for translators and interpreters working in voluntary and community settings.

Biography
Prof James Minney is Deputy Head of School for Education in the School of Humanities. From 2018-2021 he was Head of Department for both Modern Languages and Linguistics and the Academic Centre for International Students. Prior to that he was Associate Dean (Education and Student Experience) in the Faculty of Humanities, Director of the Graduate School in Humanities, Director of the Centre for Language Study and Director of Programmes for Modern Languages and Linguistics.
