Dr Julia Hüttner PhD, MA, MSc

Associate Professor

Dr Julia Hüttner is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.

I joined the staff of Modern Languages in 2009 and am currently Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics. My research addresses the learning and teaching of English in instructed settings. Within this large area, I have two focuses: educational approaches where English is used as a medium of instruction, both at school and at university level, and teacher cognition. At Southampton, I teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Applied Linguistics and supervise PhD students in my areas of research interest.

I am co-editor of the Language Learning Journal , member of the AILA Research Network on CLIL and reviewer for journals, publishers and grant bodies.

Before coming to Southampton, I worked as a researcher at the Department of English of the University of Vienna and as a language teacher (at schools and universities). I obtained my degrees at the University of Vienna (MA and PhD) and at the University of Edinburgh (MSc).
