Mrs Kirsten Söntgens is a Programme Leader for BA Modern Languages within Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.

Kirsten has been teaching German for more than 15 years and is especially interested in how technology can help students learn a language and become more independent. She has been involved in developing ePortfolios for language learning, an on-line teacher training course for experienced language tutors (EUROVOLT project) as well as learning objects.

Research interests

She is interested in developing autonomous language learning behaviour in students, especially through the use of Computer-Assisted language learning and regularly presents and publishes papers at national and international conferences, especially EuroCall (European Association for Computer-Assisted Language Learning).

Kirsten is responsible for the German language teaching and will be teaching post A-level language modules.
