Dr Pedro Garcia-Guirao is a Part-time Lecturer in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton.
I completed my PhD in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton (UK) in 2014. In addition, I hold a MPhil in Philosophy (Licenciado en Filosofía) at the University of Murcia (Spain).
I previously worked as a visiting instructor at Duke University (USA), as an associated teacher of Spanish language and culture at the Instituto Cervantes (Prague -Czech Republic), and as a part-time lecturer at the University of Southampton (until 2014), where I taught two content units: “Myths and Realities of Contemporary Spain” and “The History and Politics of the Hispanic World”, and different Spanish language courses. In September 2014, I worked at the University of Bath (UK) as a teaching fellow in Spanish politics and society, where I taught the following undergraduate units: “In the shadow of Franco: repression, denial and memory”; “Spain 1898-1975”; “International marketing communications (Spanish)”; and “Culture & national identity” (Renate Rechtien as unit convener). I re-joined University of Southampton in January 2015 as a part-time lecturer.
