Karten Outreach Studentship - Parkes Institute for the Study of Jewish/non-Jewish Relations

The Parkes Institute for the Study of Jewish/non-Jewish Relations within Humanities at the University of Southampton is seeking to award a doctoral outreach studentship to support expansion of the Parkes Outreach Programme.

This position would suit an applicant who is studying for a PhD in the field of Jewish/non-Jewish Relations, is committed to outreach and widening participation and is able to design exciting and aspiration-raising research-led lectures and seminars for both sixth form students (particularly related to subjects taught on the national curriculum) and Lifelong Learning audiences. Experience of teaching in Higher Education or Further Education would be an advantage. The ability to communicate to a diverse range of partners and audiences is essential to this studentship. The successful candidate would need to deliver a number of outreach activities outside of normal working hours.

Details of the studentship are as follows:

Location: Avenue Campus
Studentship: £4000 fixed term for 12 months
Proposed start date 03/09/2012 and end date 30/08/2013
Closing Date: Friday 20 July 2012

Please outline the subject matter and contribution of your PhD in Jewish/non-Jewish Relations.

With specific reference to subject matter, please describe how you would convert your current research into educational activities relevant to sixth form students.
