In memoriam: Richard Strauss and the Legacies of War by Professor Neil Gregor

In this inaugural lecture, Professor Neil Gregor will ask what people hear in music, how might that change over time and why this should be of interest to historians.

He will discuss how Germans listened to Richard Strauss' work after 1945 and consider the new cultural history of music in an attempt to open up new perspectives on the visceral legacies of the Second World War.

Each of the Inaugural Lectures in Humanities will have a retiring collection for a nominated charity. For this lecture, Neil has chosen to support The Lymphoma Association.

The lecture will take place at Avenue Campus on Wednesday 7 November 6.00pm
