Event details

During term-time the Music Department holds a series of free lunchtime concerts at 1pm for the benefit of our students, staff, and the local community. On Mondays you will hear professional musicians, including our own performance teachers, taking the stage so that our students are exposed to the entire spectrum of music making. We invite prominent musicians and the best up-and-coming talent from Britain and abroad. The programmes will delight you, entertain you, and perhaps even challenge you. Workshops are offered after some of the concerts, and you’re very welcome to stay on for these. You can talk to the artists and see them interact with our students.

New Noise
Janey Miller, oboe
Joby Burgess, percussion

This British duo was formed at the turn of the millennium, and comprises the “beautiful sounds and effortless pyrotechnics” of oboist Janey Miller, and “genre trashing Ensemble Bash virtuoso”, percussionist Joby Burgess. New Noise’s performance includes Sam Hayden’s explosive Recoil, Stephen Montague’s delicate lullaby for wineglasses’ Philup Glass and the world premiere of a new work from Michael Zev Gordon, alongside music from their recently released second album.
