Jewish artists and Christian faith Given by Professor Lord Harries of Pentregarth Chaired by Dr Lionel Kopelowits

Richard Harries was Bishop of Oxford from 1987-2006. Upon retirement he was made a Life Peer, and he continues to be active in the House of Lords. He is Gresham Professor of Divinity, and also an Honorary Professor of Theology at King's College, London.  Author of a number of books on the interface of Christian faith and the wider culture, including the arts, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.  His book Art and the Beauty of God, (Continuum 2000) was chosen as book of the year by the late Anthony Burgess in The Observer. Richard's most recent books include The Re-enchantment of Morality (SPCK),  shortlisted for the 2011 Michael Ramsey prize for theological writing;  Faith in Politics? Rediscovering the Christian roots of our political values, (DLT) and  Issues of Life and Death: Christian faith and medical intervention (SPCK). He has been involved with Jewish Christian relations for many decades and was for some years Chairman of the Council of Christians and Jews.  His voice is well known as a regular contributor to the Today programme over many years, and in 2011 he was elected one of the 66 most influential people over the age of 66.
