Event details

A once in a lifetime opportunity for our alumni who live in Italy

We are offering our alumni the opportunity to visit the world renowned Portus Project (http://www.portusproject.org).  The project is directed by Professor Simon Keay (Faculty of Humanities, University of Southampton) and is a continuation of a successful research collaboration between the University of Southampton, the British School at Rome (BSR), the University of Cambridge, the Soprintendenza Speciale per I Beni Archeologici di Rome (Sede di Ostia), and its principal funder is the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

The alumni event will include a tour of the site with the Director of the Project, Professor Simon Keay, as well as a chance to speak to assistant director Dr Graeme Earl and other archaeologists working on the project.  This will be followed by lunch hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, Professor Don Nutbeam and the Dean of Humanities, Professor Anne Curry.  This informal lunch will give you the opportunity to network with fellow alumni and talk to Professor Nutbeam and Professor Curry about the current trying times in education and the exciting future plans for the University of Southampton.

If you are interested in attending this event please email tps@southampton.ac.uk by Thursday 3 November to secure your place.
