Event details

University students, past and present, celebrate various string repertoire.

Talented string students

The Festival of Strings 2012 is the first event of its kind in the University and is intended to become an annual event. Open to past and present students who play stringed instruments, it provides a platform for varied topical projects and includes works in scope from solos to string orchestral repertoire.

This year the larger works are the Simple Symphony for string orchestra by Benjamin Britten and Pulsar by Vincent Lindsey-Clark in a new arrangement by the composer for guitars and strings. There are rarely-heard Piano Trio movements by Bruch and solo and ensemble pieces for guitars.
