Event details

A concert of Regency music for harp and harp-lute on authentic instruments of the period.

Sarah Deere-Jones (harp, harp-lute and voice) will talk about the development and connection between these instruments, and perform the domestic repertoire of the time with Phil Williams (parlour guitar and Northumbrian pipes).

*****

Sarah Deere-Jones is a graduate and prize winner from the Royal Academy of Music, who in the last ten years has specialised in historic music for harp, commissioning reproductions and restoring antique instruments on which to perform. In 2010 she restored three antique Regency harp-lutes and rediscovered the authentic playing technique and repertoire of these forgotten English instruments. She lectures across the country and abroad for colleges and arts organisations such as NADFAS on all aspects of the history of the harp.

Phil Williams is a self taught traditional musician of many years experience, specialising in guitar, concertinas, and medieval bagpipes - who has been performing medieval music with Sarah in the Duo 'Lammas' since the 1990s.
